[addict] [addict] I didn't know why I did it, I guess it was because everyone I worked with said it was great. I didn't know what I was doing. I didn't think I was hurting anyone. [addict & family] [show him arguing with wife] But I was destroying myself, and I was destroying my family. [show wife leaving with kids] My wife left with the kids. [still footage] [show reposession notice] They took the house away when I got fired. [addict] [show jail cage doors closing - use Epson printer separator for doors] Then, I got busted. [addict] Let's face it. I am a VMS addict. [raid] [show people spacing out on VMS] [VAX] [show vax and place credits over the top. (instrumental - 25 seconds) [newsroom] [mary] Mary: A new outbreak of VMS usage has occured in Rochester despite local authorities efforts. Larry. [2-shot] Larry: Thanks mary. Today, a VMS bust lead by the VMS Enforcement agency, the VEA, sent disturbing waves throughout the campus of the rochester institute of technology, causing concerns to students and faculty alike. Harry reports. [harry] [harry] Harry: Today at RIT, VEA officials responded to what may be the biggest VMS coup in local area history. The rising tide of VMS usage has frustrated officials to the point of using police action, as todays episode has demonstrated. [addict] [addict] addict: I was destroying myself.. and I was destroying my family [black-and-white image, with timestamp "14:56" in corner, "VEA footage" in another corner] [raid] harry: At approximately 3 pm, VEA agents stormed a computer users center which was well known to locals a VMS users room. Three students were apprehended and arrested for perversion of computing resources, and VMS paraphenalia was confiscated. [addict] [addict] addict: Then, I got busted. [raid] [vms paraphenalia] harry: The VMS paraphenalia, estimated at a street value of 59 cents, marks as the biggest catch VEA officials have made to date. Local populations have been indignant that a ring as big as this was happening in their midst, and many have taken the opportunity to voice their opinions. [unix hack] [unix hack, in t-shirt, sitting in front of terminal, with a pizza] unixhak:Yeah, well, I was surprised at all this, but VMS usage is somewhat common. I mean, there's a lot of pressure to use it now that charcoal grills are illegal. It's available everywhere. It must be the bricks or something. [woman at door, reporter holding microphone to her] [woman] woman: Oh, well, those kids are destroying their minds with such trash. It's just terrible the way they do things to themselves. I just hope my kids won't be influenced. With VMS everywhere, what's next, co-ed dining halls? [reporter speaks into mike, unheard, then points mike to woman] mary: And this statement from an RIT official. [rit official] [show shot of building #1] [RIT official, in front of building 1 or some other RITty place] RIT: We.. Are not aware.. of any VMS usage, on this campus. As it's close to nonexistant. I was last on campus, 5 years ago, and no vms usage, was evident. [addict] [addict] addict: I don't know why I did it. [agent] [show agent in smartly dressed suit, reporter holding mike to him. caption "J. Olson, VEA Agent"] agent: We must educate the public into understanding that VMS is dangerous. With no job control, VMS users fall into the trap of crashing repeatedly, [suicidal] [show person banging head on table] and pulling their hair over typical VMS quirks. [show someon climbing over railing on high floor of dorm] Suicide is a general symptom of VMS usage, and the general public must be aware of that. [harry] [harry] harry: Officials have indicated that this may be an isolated incident, but are on the alert for possible MS-DOS abuse outside computer science circles. This is harry reporting from RIT for action news. [addict] [addict] addict: I didn't mean to do it. [larry] [newsroom] larry: Thank you harry. Barry reports the weather for tonight. [addict] [addict] addict: It ruined my life. [weatherperson near map and window. looks out window] [close credit goes in corner during barry] [weatherperson] Barry: Well, It kinda looks like snow. There's some on the ground there and I can see some trees swaying, so I guess it's windy. I can see some clouds moving... That way. (pause) [text] addict: VMS... Just say NO! [END]
