Dungeons and Dragons Cross-Reference

This site contains cross-references for various D & D books. By cross-referencing everything, the hassle of determining which of several books something is in is reduced. Rudimentary data on spell details is included so that spells with the same name but different uses (for different classes, for example) can be differentiated. This is intended to be a useful tool in addition to, but not a replacement for, the books themselves.

Send mail to Perette with feedback & comments if you like, though responses may be slow. You are also welcome to use maps and stuff from the world I've created, Tilde, or read the Ballad of the Battle of Unther.

Formats:

  • Alphabetical listing, legal text format. Paginated to 60 lines per page in a two-column format. Reminiscent of a legal cross-reference, hence the name.
  • Alphabetical listing, legal format for -me macro package. Download and troff -me alpha-legal.me | lpr.
  • Alphabetical listing, legal format as PDF file. -me macro package run through groff -me alpha-legal.me | ps2pdf.
  • Alphabetical listing, HTML format. A big table. May annoy your browser.

Submitting files

If you have a book that's not cross-referenced, you can submit it, preferably as a plain-old ASCII file. I can handle spreadsheet files too, but they need to be exported to text (sometimes called CSV files); in this case, the colons in the sample represent separate columns. Here are some example files:
  • Players Handbook, second edition cross-reference, multi-edition source. You can use the multi-edition format for a single edition, but it's more typing. A single-edition source file may be converted to multi-edition with the vi command in the comment at the top of the file.
  • Complete Druids Handbook, second edition cross-reference, single-edition source.
Here are pieces of a file with some comments:
